Teaching Demonstration

Here you will find a teaching demonstration done for colleagues at Arizona State University. This was a lesson on genre awareness in writing that I often do in my first year composition courses (ENG101/ENG102). The goal is to help undergraduate students understand the concept of gender between as we move between writing projects in the class. It underscores the importance of identifying the requirements and criteria of a genre so that students can ‘do genre’ more effectively.

This video includes: lesson context, lesson itself, questions from colleagues (both in and out of ‘character’ as students)

This teaching demonstration is from a Job Market Preparation class during my PhD. It was recorded during the Spring of 2025.
